Police search for potentially-armed suspect around Jaffray

On the morning of May 8, 2024, frontline officers were dispatched to a rural property near Baynes Lake, near the community of Jaffray, BC, for a report of a disturbance involving a weapon.

“No one has been reported injured,” says Cpl. James Grandy, BC RCMP spokesperson. “However, a police presence will be seen in near the community of Jaffray, BC, as officers search for the suspect involved.”

“At this time, the incident appears to be targeted,” Grandy said. “Police continue to monitor this event and its associated risk to public safety. The suspect does not appear to be an active threat, but does remain at large. Officers are working diligently to locate and apprehend the suspect.”

The suspect vehicle is described as an older model dark grey Ford F-150, with a headache rack, camouflage along the sides, and heavy damage to the windshield and front-end.

“Police are asking the public to call 911 should they observe the suspect vehicle, and to not engage with the driver,” explains Cpl. Grandy.

The investigation is still early and ongoing.
