From May 29 – June 5, the City of Castlegar is conducting flow testing on the water distribution system as part of its Water & Sewer Hydraulic Model Update project. Due to the nature of the work, the City is issuing a precautionary water advisory for this period as recommended by Interior Health Authority.

Precautionary Water Advisory

During a precautionary water advisory, Interior Health recommends the elderly, children, and anyone with compromised immunity use water brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute or find an alternative safe source of water for brushing teeth, making baby formula, preparing food, washing fruits and vegetables, making ice and beverages, and washing dishes. What to expect May 29 – June 5

During the flow testing process, residents may experience low-pressure and discoloured water.  Any discolouration is temporary and is not a health hazard. City staff collect and test water samples throughout the distribution system on a regular basis to ensure water is safe for consumption. If you notice discolouration in your water, run your cold water taps until the water runs clear.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this essential work. Community safety and well-being remain our top priority.
