Crews were called out to a structure fire in Fruitvale Monday evening, according to Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue Chief Dan Derby.

“Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the fire, which had spread to a nearby vehicle, to prevent further extension to nearby structures and trees,” Derby said. “No one was home at the time, and there were no injuries to firefighters.”

The call came in at 9:08 p.m. July 15, with crews arriving on scene by 9:23 p.m. The incident was under control by 11:05 p.m. Twelve firefighters from Montrose, Fruitvale and Trail attended.
