RCMP partner with agencies to offer safety presentations in Robson and at local schools
Castlegar Police-Based Victim Services and Castlegar RCMP, in conjunction with Children of the Street, are hosting a parent night prior to a variety of upcoming presentations at local schools specific for youth from grades 4 to 7, during the week of Oct. 21, 2024.
The presentations for the week will be on on-line safety. The Castlegar RCMP have recently seen an increase in on-line crime and victimization, specifically financial crime and sexual offences such as sharing intimates images and sextortion. The presentations will afford attendees the opportunity to further educate themselves on these crimes and prevention.
Parents are encouraged to attend the Robson Community School, 3131 Waldie Avenue, Robson, on Oct. 21, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. to join the conversation, and view the information that will be provided to the children during the week. The Monday evening, parent event is expected to be two hours. It will be a great opportunity for parents to acquire knowledge on on-line safety and how to recognize any warning signs. Discussion will also included ways that you can support your children through online safety conversations.
