Beyond the Battlefield: Remembrance Day Film Festival
In honour of Remembrance Day, we’re hosting a mini-film festival on Saturday, November 9th to explore narratives that sometimes go unnoticed. We’ll be showing five films from the National Film Board of Canada that will highlight some of the incredible contributions of women in both world wars, Indigenous soldiers in WWII, Italian-Canadian internment experiences during WWII, and the story of a pair of Mennonite brothers during WWII who made the tough decision to either enlist or be conscientious objectors.
Drop by for just one film, or stay to see them all! Entry by donation.
Discover how these diverse experiences shape our understanding of sacrifice and courage. From personal journeys to community tributes, we’ll explore the rich tapestry of history that extends beyond the battlefield.

Join genealogist and longtime volunteer at the Rossland Public Library on Thursday, November 21st from 1 to 4 pm, Linda Gomez, for “Digging Deeper Into Your Genealogy,” the next workshop in the Seniors Workshop Series. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have the skills to:

  • Effectively use various genealogy resources
  • Validate your information
  • Organize your information into visual timelines
  • Bring your family stories to life!

Whether you’re just starting out or looking to refine your skills, this session is perfect for everyone. Bring your materials, questions, and a passion for uncovering your family’s past! Annual General Meeting & Speaker Event with Richie Mann
Our Annual General Meeting is coming up! Want to learn more about what we do up at the museum, our strategic plans, our mission, our current projects, and our future goals? This is the perfect time to check in with us!
But that’s not all! We’re thrilled to be hosting Richie Mann for another great evening of storytelling to start this season of the RMDC Speaker Series! Richie will be sharing tales of the Old Dewdney Trail – built in the 1860s to link Hope to Fort Steele in an all-Canadian route, the Dewdney Trail was pivotal to the development of the Province and the region. Richie has done a pile of research on this topic and would love to share more about it. Join us at the Museum on Tuesday, November 26th at 5 pm to hear all about it – and stick around to learn about all the museum’s doings at our Annual General Meeting!
Entry is by donation – please RSVP at rosslandmuseum.ca/news/2024/agm so we know how many cookies to put out! See you there!
