On Thursday, October 31, 2024, frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers will be on patrol for Halloween 2024 in an effort to make it a safe and fun night for everyone.

Everyone can help make it a great night by reviewing the following Halloween tips:

  • Make sure children are visible when wearing their costume and walking around the neighbourhood. Add reflective material to their costumes if needed.
  • Make sure their costume fit well and does not impair any of their senses; especially vision and hearing.
  • Steer clear of all costume materials that may be flammable.
  • Remind children to stay on sidewalks and sides of the road to avoid conflict with vehicles.
  • Plan the trick-or-treating route ahead of time.
  • Completed one side of the street at a time (no criss-crossing across the road).
  • Cross the road at designated crosswalks and intersection whenever possible.
  • Carry a flashlight and other illuminating items, like glowsticks, so drivers can see the children clearly in the dark.
  • Travel in groups and with a parent or responsible adult.
  • Only accept treats at the door. Never enter a car or house or go with someone to get candy.
  • Do not eat candy until it is inspected by a parent or responsible adult.
  • Carry a cellphone for emergencies.
  • Assign a spot to meet if someone gets lost or separated from the group.
  • Please be mindful of your pets as this holiday can be noisy and scary for them. Keep themselves inside if necessary.
  • Drivers, please slow down and use caution. Children will be everywhere, and sometimes forgot to cross the road safely due to the excitement. If you can avoid driving on the roads, please do!
