Downtown shed fire causes damages but no injuries
No one was injured in a blaze that did roughly $30,000 damage, according to Castlegar Fire Chief Sam Latanzio.
“On the evening of Nov. 15 ,CFD was dispatched to a report of a structure fire in the 300 block of 4 Avenue,” Lattanzio said. “Upon arrival, it was noted that there was a fully involved shed on fire in the back of the property that was being actioned by persons with garden hoses. The fire was extending onto the adjacent fence and shed of the neighbouring property.”
He said in all, there were three sheds that were impacted and a fence and covered area. It is estimated the loss is approximately $30,000.
He added the cause of the fire is still under investigation; however, it is not suspicious or criminal in nature.
“In all, CFD had 11 members responding with Command 1, Rescue 1 and Engine 1.,” Lattanzio said. “No injuries to persons or firefighters were reported. Both properties appear to have insurance.”
