Come down to Gyro Park on Thursday, Aug. 14 for The Night Market, an exciting evening of live music, dance, food, market, beer and wine garden from 5 to 8:30 pm to celebrate the last Kootenay Savings Music in the Park for this summer.

Headlining the evening from 7:15 pm is The Latin Lovers, a wildly entertaining Latin Band from the West Kootenays. With a fiery fusion of Latin traditional rhythms, like Cumbia, Flamenco, Tango they play a mix of original music and well-known Spanish covers.

Playing an outstanding array of instruments, didgeridoo, pan flute, harmonica, accordion, brass, congas, bongos, alternative percussion, and so much more, these seven extremely dynamic musicians light the stage on fire! Their interactive approach invites the audience to dance and participate by adding harmonies to songs and providing shakers for everyone to join in the musical experience.

The band members are Juan Rizzatti (lead vocals, guitar, pan flute, harmonica, accordion, didgeridoo), Vern Wakunick (vocals, timbale, bongos, shakers, guirro, claves), Jay Conrad   (vocals, guitar), Trevor Scott (congas, bongos, djembe), Carl Redden (trumpet, trombone, vocals), Mike Roy (bass, vocals), and Darryl Hosquet (drums).

Performing from 6-7 pm is the dynamic Bella Cat, a soulful vocalist whose electrifying performances blend R&B, funk, blues, hip-hop, and pop for an unforgettable, immersive and thrilling experience.

Bella delivers unforgettable shows, often incorporating elements of Drag and Burlesque, to create an immersive and thrilling experience. Her music, reminiscent of legends like Etta James, Amy Winehouse, and Tina Turner, is both raw and captivating, with a raspy, soulful voice that echoes the golden era of soul.

With three albums under her belt, Bella Cat has gained international acclaim, marked by nine cross-Canada tours, performances on Hollywood Boulevard, appearances at international festivals such as the Pap Jazz Fest in Haiti, shows in Costa Rica, and a feature on Canada’s The Voice (La Voix).

Bella’s concerts have been hailed as “futuristic soul shows,” and media outlets like CBC, Ottawa Magazine, and Metro News have praised her remarkable vocal range and captivating stage presence. A visionary and multifaceted creator, Bella Cat also works as a songwriter, lyricist, music video producer, and vocal coach, dedicated to transforming and inspiring others to become their best selves.

Throughout the night the arts collective,  Lofty Goal Project, will perform 3 short works of contemporary dance in the Park at 5:15 pm, 5:45 pm and 7 pm. The Lofty Goal Project emerged from a desire to explore, collaborate, create, present work, and ultimately provide a platform to present opportunities for artists of all mediums to collaborate and reach their own lofty goals.

Plus, we are excited to announce a demonstration by Snehaamrtham, an Indian-based dance initiative, created to celebrate and share the elegance of dance with audiences across the world. Coming to Trail this November is a 2-week dance intensive designed to introduce participants to the beauty, grace, and storytelling power of the Indian dance form. Here tonight to demonstrate a taste of the dance form and her skill is dancer Amrtha Yesudas.
