Wildsafe BC – Community Coordinator Update
Tara Pejski, WildSafeBC Community Coordinator, presented a summary of WildSafe BC activities completed in 2025 to the Council, highlighting education and outreach initiatives focused on reducing wildlife attractants and promoting coexistence within the community.

City of Castlegar – Organizational Plan
Chris Barlow, Chief Administrative Officer, along with staff from across City departments, presented the City of Castlegar’s first-ever Organizational Plan. The presentation outlined the plan’s vision, mission, values, and strategic pillars, and explained how it translates Council’s Strategic Plan into clear organizational direction, supporting coordinated service delivery, consistent decision-making, and accountability across the organization.

2026 Budget Calendar (Report No. 25-87)
Council approved the 2026 Budget Calendar, which outlines key milestones for developing the Five-Year Financial Plan and annual budget. The calendar identifies Council deliberation dates and opportunities for public input and will be shared publicly to support transparency in the budget process.

Liquid Waste Management Plan – Stage 1 (Report No. 25-88)
Council approved the Liquid Waste Management Plan Stage 1 Report and directed staff to submit it to the Ministry of Environment and Parks. Stage 1 identifies existing conditions and challenges related to Castlegar’s liquid waste systems and includes a recommendation to retain the North Sewage Treatment Plant as the City’s sole wastewater treatment facility. The LWMP will continue through additional stages of technical assessment and planning.

2026 FireSmart Community Funding & Supports Program (Report No. 25-89)
Council endorsed an allocation-based funding application to the Union of British Columbia Municipalities for the maximum grant amount of $200,000 through the 2026 FireSmart Community Funding & Supports Program. If successful, the funding will support wildfire risk reduction and community resilience initiatives.

2025 Parking Assessment & Regulatory Review (Report No. 25-92)
Council adopted the 2025 Parking Assessment & Regulatory Review prepared by Urban Systems. The review provides an updated analysis of parking supply, demand, and regulations to help inform future planning and policy decisions.
