The Regional District of Central Kootenay has declared a State of Local Emergency and an Evacuation Order for Slocan Valley West Road following flooding due to a continued rise of the Slocan River. Nelson Police said a man from Alberta is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court on a trafficking charge following an arrest early Wednesday morning near Cottonwood Park.
