Castlegar couple faces laundry list of charges

Police are recommending five charges each against a Castlegar couple in their mid-40s, after a grow-op raid yesterday, according to Castlegar RCMP Cpl. Dan Pollock.
“On March 7 (at) just after 11 a.m., Castlegar RCMP executed a search warrant at a suspected marihuana growing operation in the 2300 block of Pass Creek Road,” he said. “Police arrested two suspects inside the residence and found a marihuana grow operation.”
Pollock said, in addition to the grow op, which included just over 60 plants as well as some dried and packaged pot, police found a loaded rifle and evidence the grower was also producing cannabis oil.
“There was no permit for the gun, and it was unsafely stored,” he said.
Both suspects were released by a Judicial Justice of the Peace for court in Castlegar on May 23, 2012. Police are recommending charges for production of the pot and of the oil, production for purpose of trafficking, unlawful possession of a firearm and unsafe storage of a firearm.
