On the morning of Dec. 24, 2015, at around 8:30 am the RCMP South Okanagan Traffic Services attended to a report of a two vehicle collision which occurred on Highway 97 North of Penticton by the Kickininee Park. The collision involved two vehicles with scene examination determining that a brown Honda Odyssey van was travelling northbound when the adult male driver crossed the centre line and collided with a southbound Chevrolet Spark sedan driven by an adult female.

The drivers and sole occupants of each vehicle were injured and transported by BCAS to Penticton Regional Hospital for medical treatment. The female driver of the purple Chevrolet Spark is still in hospital and in serious but stable condition. The male driver of brown Honda Odyssey van was injured but released from hospital.
