Expand your art collection with Sculpturewalk!
Which of Castlegar’s downtown sculptures has caught your eye? In just over a month Castlegar Sculpturewalk’s 2018 sculptures will be taken down, so now is the time to purchase or lease one of these beautiful works of art and keep it in the Kootenays!
“2018 was our biggest year yet, and there are so many beautiful pieces available in our outdoor gallery,” says Executive Director Joy Barrett. “We are always sad to see them go, and would love to see some more stay permanently. We’ve sold three sculptures so far and our leasing program has expanded dramatically each year, with over twenty sculptures heading to their new homes in a few weeks. Businesses find this is a great way to draw attention to their establishments, and with this support, we’ve seen public art here boom, with over fifty pieces currently showing in the city. Castlegar has definitely earned the title The Sculpture Capital of Canada™.”
Sales and leasing are important to Sculpturewalk’s program as it directly supports the artists, generates operating income for the charitable organization and increases public art in Castlegar and the region. Municipalities such as Nelson, Rossland, Creston and Penticton have seen the benefits to partnering with Castlegar Sculpturewalk to create easy, affordable public art programs that showcase the tremendous international talent sourced by the annual event.
Leasing is an affordable way to dip your toe into the art market, with monthly leases starting at only $100/month, and sculpture purchases can be made on a long-term, payment plan basis.
