People wanting the straight goods on why not to vote in favour of keeping the HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) should check out the rally Monday hosted by Nelson/Creston NDP MLA Michelle Mungall.

The Meet at the Mailbox rally to discuss the HST is set for Monday outside the Canada Post Office on Vernon Street in Nelson.

To get the straight goods on the controversial tax Mungall has invited the NDP official opposition leader Adrian Dix to speak to the electorate.

The Meet at the Mailbox rally begins at 4:30 and goes until 6 p.m.

The rally is the seventh for Mungall, with stops in Kaslo, Argenta, Balfour, Proctor, Ymir, Salmo and Creston.

The HST came into effect in B.C. July 1, 2010. The way the tax was introduced by B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell upset many British Columbians.

Led by former Premier Bill Vander Zalm, the “no” side forced the Liberal government to take the HST to a province-wide vote with the first successful initiative question.

Most British Columbians would have received their ballots in the mail.

Due to the recent postal strike, deadline for receipt of completed HST ballots has been extended to August 5, 2011.
