Impaired driving charges have been laid against Constable Tina Roxanne Kerton, a seven-year RCMP member who is posted to the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia.

The charges stem from an earlier off-duty incident on January 15 in which Cst. Kerton was allegedly involved in a single-vehicle accident in her personal vehicle. There were no injuries.

Cst. Kerton is facing two counts including the operation of a motor vehicle while impaired, and exceeding 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood while having the care or control of a motor vehicle.

The charges were sworn April, 16 in Surrey Provincial Court.

“The constable is on administrative duties pending the outcome of the criminal charges,” says CFSEU-BC Chief Officer Dan Malo.

An RCMP Code of Conduct investigation has also been initiated, he adds.
