Jazz announces more flights to Castlegar's regional airport
Castlegar will be seeing more flights at its regional airport, according to a press release issued today.
“The West Kootenay Regional Airport is pleased to advise that Jazz Air has increased its summer passenger service to better meet the needs of the travelling public in the West Kootenay region,” the release said.
Airport manager Gerry Rempel said Jazz Air has added an additional daily trip to Vancouver, now providing four flights a day seven days a week.
The release went on to say that ,embers of the West Kootenay Regional Airport Advisory Committee, which met May 3, noted that Jazz Air flight rates were within pennies of its local competitor and that it was much easier to go through security here locally than having to deplane in Vancouver and cross the runway to go through Vancouver airport security to carry on with flights elsewhere.
“With our new terminal upgrades and by Jazz increasing its service, the West Kootenay Regional Airport is continuing to fulfill its mandate as the region’s major airport that handles 70,000 passenger movements a year for our region,” said mayor Lawrence Chernoff.
