UPDATED: BC Coroners Service identifies body of woman found near Slocan City
The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a female who was found deceased near Slocan City on Sunday (February 15) as Victoria Aguilar, aged 63, of Slocan.
Aguilar had been reported missing by family members on January 7, 2015, when they had been unable to make contact with her for several days.
A search at the time yielded no results.
The body of Aguilar was spotted by a person walking near the Slocan River in an open area about three kilometres south of Slocan City.
She was deceased at the scene.
The BC Coroners Service continues to investigate this death, however, foul play has now been ruled out.
It was noted that Aguilar liked to go for long walks in the area.
The family of Aguilar has been notified of her death.
RCMP report body found south of Slocan
RCMP report at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Sunday (February 15) the Slocan Lake detachment received a report of a found body approximately two kilometres south of Slocan near the shore of Slocan River.
The body was recovered and transported to Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital for Coroner’s examination.
At this time, the identification of the deceased has not been confirmed.
The BC Coroner’s Service has assumed control of the investigation.
