The came, they landed and they all had a great time.

The British Columbia Float Plane Association (BCFA) fly-in and annual general meeting was a tremendous success as a large contingent of participants and planes took over the Nelson Airport for the weekend.

“A few of the members came to Nelson last year for the airshow,” explained Case Grypma of the Nelson Pilots Association.

“They usually hold this meeting in Northern BC. But we met with them last year and started talking about the meeting being held in Nelson.”

The BCFA held meetings at the airport on the Saturday while plane lovers walked the tarmac and waterfront adjacent the dog walk to take a look at the floatplanes and other vintage units.

Sunday Nelson Pilots Association hosted a pancake breakfast, which was enjoyed by the general public.

As well, the public got to watch helicopters fighting the Sitkum Creek Wildfire land at the airport to fuel up before heading back to the fire located north of Nelson.
