Alberta man sentenced in relation to multiple local B-and-Es
An Edmonton man has been sentenced in Alberta court to 300 days jail time and a a firearms prohibition in relation to 12 break-and-enters in this region as well as a list of criminal charges in Alberta, according to the RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) Report, featured in city council’s agenda package at its regular meeting Monday night.
The report, issued by non-commissioned officer in charge of the CRU Cpl. Kelly Hall, indicated 38-year-old Jesse Lee Andrews waived his BC charges to Alberta, entering guilty pleas on a number of charges.

An Alberta man alleged to have committed 12 break-and-enters in the Kootenay-Boundary region in January 2014 will be facing a laundry list of charges, according to Cpl. Kelly Hall, non-commissioned officer in charge of the Crime Reduction Unit (CRU).
Jesse Lee Andrews, 37, is already in police custody in Alberta in relation to other matters, but Crown Counsel in B.C. is coordinating with their counterparts in Alberta to execute a warrant and process charges relating to 12 break-and-enters to businesses here, Hall said: specifically, three in Castlegar, four in Nelson, and one each in Trail, South Slocan, Salmo, Grand Forks and Greenwood.
“The CRU members ended up coordinating this because it was multi-jurisdictional, but every detachment/police agency in those communities did their own investigations, and it is because of their excellent work that the 12 charges were sworn,” Hall said.
She said Andrews will either be transported back to B.C. to face the charges, or may plead simply guilty in Alberta and have sentencing, etc. dealt with there.
She said this sort of cross-jurisdictional investigation and processing does come with its own set of logistical issues, but because mutli-province cooperation is often required, the whole enterprise runs fairly smoothly.
There is no word, at this time, as to whether any of the stolen property can or will be recovered and returned to its owners.
