Suspect sought after brazen early-morning robbery in Nelson
Police in Nelson are looking for man following a brazen early-morning robbery of a well-known Heritage City jewelry store Tuesday.
Nelson Police in a media release said the robbery happened at Ted Allen’s Jewelry, which is located at 431 Baker Street.
“In the early morning hours of September 11, 2017 Ted Allen’s Jewelry was broken into by a male who was wearing a disguise to conceal his identity from police,” the NPD release said.
“The suspect used a hammer or similar tool to gain entry by brazenly smashing the front window of the business.”
Nelson Police said the suspect then smashed several glass display cases and stole numerous items of jewelry in a short period of time.
Police said the total value of items stolen and damage caused is estimated at $30,000.
“NPD has been working extensively in conjunction with other provincial police agencies to identify the suspect responsible for this matter,” NPD said.
“NPD will be updating as events progress and if the identity of the party responsible is confirmed.”
