CORRECTED: Grand Forks shooting bovine-related
CORRECTION: The gun was not registered, but rather had a Possession & Acquisition License (PAL).
Grand Forks residents reported – and were alarmed by – a massive police response in town last night.
According to Director in Charge of BC RCMP Communications Dawn Roberts, the initial call was a firearm complaint, reporting multiple shots fired.
Obviously, police responded in force.
Upon arriving, they found a man, a couple of cows, and a significant misunderstanding about what the shots were about.
“There was a shotgun, which was registered, and there were shots fired – he was trying to herd the cows.”
Having rapidly ascertained the situation was non-urgent, police stood down.
Accordingly, the man was advised to consider less-troubling options in dealing with his herd.
Police will remain in force in Grand Forks until the current crisis is resolved.
