The Dam City Rollers are moving into their final roller derby game of the season this weekend when they take on the Penticton Pistoleras Roller Derby team.

The action takes place at Selkirk College Gymnasium Saturday – doors open at 6 p.m. with the first whistle blown at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10 for adults or $5 with a food bank donation. Children 12 and under enter for free.

“The Dams are thrilled to host Penticton on home turf,” says Valerie Rossi, known as Lois Slain on the track. “This season has been jam-packed full of some hard-hitting games and much learning opportunity and the team has been applying some new strategy to gameplay and are stoked to bring the community some high-level derby.”

The evening of live roller derby is part of Castlegar’s Sunfest line up and features a halftime performance by the Kootenay Hoop Troop, a concession, BBQ, 50/50 draw and other great prizes.

“Winners will be drawn for the team’s Raise a Glass Raffle Fundraiser; there’s still time to purchase your raffle tickets and try your luck at three awesome prizes, including a beer fridge,” adds Rossi.

The team is looking to fill a few non-skating official positions and general volunteer positions. If you are interested in volunteering for this fantastic event, get in touch.
