Special Weather Statement for Boundary, West Kootenay, Kootenay Lake

Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for the Southern Interior of BC, including the Boundary, West Kootenay and Kootenay Lake regions.
Environment Canada said a very intense cold front is forecast to move across the southwest interior Friday night, bringing south to southwest winds gusting up to 90 km/h into the evening.
“Most areas will see gusts to 70 or 80 km/h but wind prone areas of the Coquihalla – Merritt to Kamloops and the Okanagan Connector may see gusts as high as 90 km/h,” the Environment Canada website said.
Passes of concern include Hope to Merritt, Merritt to Kamloops, Hope/Princeton, Highway 3 Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass and Okanagan Connector from Merritt to Kelowna.
Environment Canada said motorists travelling on the adjacent highway passes are advised to be prepared for strong wind gusts, especially in wind prone areas. The strong winds will give areas of blowing snow with poor visibility.
Environment Canada said the threat of strong wind gusts will diminish Saturday morning.
Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
