As the owner of MountainHigh Lighting in downtown Castlegar, I urge the city to pursue any initiative in renewable energy and positive environmental change.

We have been leaders in the advancement of LED lighting in this region and strive to support forward thinking citizens in their search for energy efficient options.

We saw a lack of recycling in the community for Fluorescent bulbs in particular, and lightbulbs overall. It is too bad anyone can sell non efficient lighting, yet noone needs to receive the same product for recycling. With that in mind, we are the one and only recycle depot for bulbs in Castlegar. We felt it was our moral obligation as a concerned business to promote recycling.

We encourage the city to come up with a cohesive plan that makes it easy for the average consumer to recycle their bulbs, metals, plastic bags, hard plastics, foam, cardboard, paint and batteries.

We are one planet. We are in this together, and together we can make a positive change!
