Castlegar closing seasonal parks as winter looms

With the days getting cooler, seasonal closures begin this week at Castlegar’s parks.

The natural swimming ponds at Millennium Park and the splash zone at Kinsmen Park are now closed for the winter.

The seasonal park washrooms and water fountains remain open and are expected to close in mid-October. These closures are necessary to prevent pipes from freezing during the winter season. The frost-free drinking fountains at the Millennium Park & Ponds entrance and the Kinniard Park K1 & K2 fields remain open year-round.

Sports fields are also scheduled to close for the winter in mid-October. Parks staff will be inspecting the fields and scheduling necessary repairs and maintenance before the snow falls. Sports teams are asked to respect these seasonal closures to ensure quality turf when the fields open again in the spring.
