The 2025-26 training year marks 531 squadron’s 75th Anniversary. The squadron was formed on 02 March 1951.
This year also marks 50 years since girls were officially made part of the cadet program. On July 30, 1975, following the passing of Bill C-16, which amended the National Defence Act to allow “persons” instead of just “boys” to join. Today, girls are a significant and integral part of the program, representing a large portion of the total cadet population and contributing to the program’s success in leadership and national competitions. The program celebrates this 50-year milestone in 2025, highlighting its commitment to diversity and inclusivity.
531 Squadron will have it’s first meeting for it’s 75th year on Wednesday 17 September 2025 in the Kemball (Trail) Armoury at 1990 7th Ave, starting at 6:15pm.
