Update: Taylor moves up leader board at 2011 B.C. Women's Amateur Golf Championships

Lauren Taylor is slowly but surely moving up the leader board at the 2011 B.C. Women’s Amateur Golf Championship in Port Alberni.
The Granite Pointe golfer shot an even-par 71 during Thursday’s third round to climb into a tie for eighth spot.
The final round goes today. Taylor teed off shortly after 9 a.m.
Taylor, coming off a very successful season at Portland State University, kept her bogey’s to a minimum.
Fact is Taylor could have had an under par round had she not bogeyed the final hole Thursday.
Taylor has improved as the tourney progress, opening with an 80 before shooting 75 during round two.
Christina Proteau of the host Port Alberni leads the field by two shots over Taylor Kim of Surrey.
Amanda Baker of Port Coquitlam is third followed by second round leader Anica Yoo of Port Coquitlam.
Taylor, a 19-year-old L.V. Rogers Bomber grad, won two tournaments this season on the Big Sky circuit in California — Cal State Fullerton Folino Invitational and UC Irvine Anteater Invitational — at Portland State.
Those accomplishments did not go unnoticed as Taylor earned Big Sky Conference Freshman of the Year accolades — the first freshman from Portland State to claim the honour.
Taylor also was named to the All- Big Sky Conference Team. Taylor’s scoring average of 75.80 is the best ever by a PSU freshman. She also tied a school scoring record for a 36-hole tournament with an even par 144 at the Folino.
Taylor is a two-time Big Sky Conference Golfer of the Week.
