Sihota takes commanding lead after Round one of BC Juvenile Golf Tournament
Jeevan Sihota of Victoria holds a commanding five shot lead over the field after Day one of the 2017 BC Juvenile Golf Championships at Granite Pointe at Nelson.
Sihota carded eight birdies and one bogey to finish the opening round with a score of 7-under-par 65.
Second is Matt Hopley of Kelowna at 70.
Nic Jenner of Castlegar is locked in a two-way tied for third with Fin Lawlor of North Vancouver. Each player carded identical scores of 1-under-par 71.
Jenner started slow with bogeys on two of the first five holes. However, the Sunflower City player managed to register five birdies over the remaining holes to complete the round under par.
More than 55 players from throughout the province entered the three-day, 54-hole tournament.
Round two of the tournament goes Thursday with the final round set for Friday at Granite Pointe.
Other local player scores include A.J. Roberts, tied for 31st with a 9-over-par 81; William Watt of Castlegar tied for 39th at 12-over-par 84; Xander Bankes of Restone in Rossland tied for 44th at 15-over-par 87 and Brendon Makeiv of Balfour tied for 53rd at 27-over-par 99.
