Kent Johnson makes Smoke Eater History at NHL Draft

Moments ago at the NHL Draft, Smoke Eater alumni Kent Johnson, made history as the highest Smoke Eater ever to be drafted into the NHL, going fifth overall to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Johnson who was named league MVP, top scorer, most Sportsmanlike and CJHL Top Forward in his second and final year in Trail where he tallied 108 points in 56 games. After putting himself front and centre on ever NHL scouting radar, Johnson took his skills to the Michigan Wolverines of the NCAA where in his freshman year had 27 points in 26 games, Now he’ll look ahead to his first NHL game in the not to distant future with the Blue Jackets.
