Four remain in hunt for Tier 3 U18 Title

Castlegar U18s finished out of the playoffs at the BC Hockey Tier 3 Championships at the NDCC Arena.

Castlegar lost 2-0 to Dawson Creek to finish the eight-team tournament in fourth spot in Pool B with a 0-1-2 record.

Division winning Terrace and Mission advance as the top seeds in Wednesday morning’s semi-finals at the NDCC Arena.

Pool A winner Terrace faces South Okanagan while Mission hosts Fraser Valley rival Aldergove in the other playoff matchup.

The winners advance to the Gold Medal Game at 8 p.m.

The two losing teams play for the Bronze Medal at 5 p.m.

Castlegar U18s bounce back at Tier 3 Provincials

Castlegar U18s have a tie in two games at the BC Hockey Tier 3 Championships at the NDCC Arena in Nelson.

The Castlegar U18s, a combined squad of players from the Castlegar and Nelson Minor Hockey Associations, bounced back from a lopsided setback Sunday to tie South Okanagan 3-3 Monday.

Castlegar U18s sit in third spot in Pool B standings with a 0-1-1 record.

Mission, which defeated Castlegar Sunday, leads the division at 2-0 followed by South Okanagan.

Castlegar concludes the round-robin Tuesday evening at 6:15 p.m. against winless Dawson Creek.

The top two teams in each division advance to the Gold Medal Game Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. in the NDCC Arena.

Fraser Valley rivals Aldergrove and Mission lead division standings heading into the final day of round robin action.

Former Western Hockey League coach and Nelson Minor Hockey grad Wayne Naka was the keynote speaker at the BC Hockey Tier 3 U18 Championship banquet.
